You’ve already invested so much to get to where you are. And it’s nice to be respected in your social circles — no matter how many anxiety filled and unhappy moments you weather during the week.
I know this struggle from personal experience. You want a better quality of life than those in the positions you’re striving for. But you don’t really know what’s possible or how to make the moves if you did.
I began my career at an Am100 law firm in Washington, D.C. I excelled, gained the trust and respect of my colleagues, and had all the outward markers of success. But, I had a secret. I was unhappy, I wondered what else I could do with my law degree and was terrified of what other people would think about my pivot.
I made the time and space to explore who I am and what I truly want. I embraced my unique story and successfully landed a position as the founding administrative dean at a small college. That was my “aha” moment. I realized that I could create the future I wanted for myself.
It’s your turn to embrace what’s possible.
I know that other attorneys of color need support and a concrete process to take control of their futures and prioritize their happiness by designing a career they love either in or out of law. That’s why I founded The Pivoting Lawyer to help attorneys like you explore and strategize with confidence. You don’t have to figure this out alone.
